Becoming a Maronite Catholic today means joining an Eastern Catholic Church that comes from the Syriac Antiochian Church founded by St Peter and St Paul (Acts Chapter 15)
The Antiochian Churches are the missing link from Judaism to Christianity, where the stress is not on sin but on the good news of God's love for us and salvation with Him for eternity. We use poetry and typology to express the hiddenness of God with a stress on prayer and asceticism. Our liturgical celebrations are unique and reflect our early Apostolic beginnings. For instance, in some parts of the Liturgy, we continue to use Syriac, a dialect of the Aramaic language spoken by Jesus and his Apostles.
